HUMC Music Ministry

HUMC's professionally led choir

“Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Ephesians 5:20

Music is an integral part of worship at Hickory United Methodist Church. Whether it is the joyful sound of the congregation singing, our Adult Choir, vocal soloists, or instrumentalists, we seek to praise God through song.

Adult Choir

The Chancel Choir is an all-volunteer choir made up of individuals who desire to share their time and talents by leading the congregation in worship each Sunday.  We sing at the Traditional Worship Service at 9:00 am and we also present a special Christmas and Easter Cantata each year.

We love receiving new members into our choir family and we have open membership opportunities for the choir at any time for those interested. Choir rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons from 3:00-4:30 from September-June.  Our choir takes an annual summer recess in July and August and resumes rehearsals on the Sunday after Labor Day weekend. If you are interested in being a part of the chancel choir, please contact our Director of Music, Karen Nemeth at karen.nemeth@verizon.net.

The Hickory Worship Team

We engage the congregation through new Christian songs and modern renditions of traditional hymns at our contemporary worship service called “The Hickory.”

We rehearse on Sundays at 3:30 and the service begins at 5:00 in the social hall.   If you are interested in getting involved with the worship team, contact our worship leader, David Springstead at david.springstead1989@gmail.com.

Vocal Soloists and Instrumentalists

At Hickory UMC we offer praise through a variety of musical styles and presentations.  If you play an instrument or would like to sing a solo, our music director will meet with you and help you pick and rehearse worship music.  Contact Karen Nemeth at karen.nemeth@verizon.net.

Concerts and Recitals

We welcome interest in using our facilities for concerts and recitals.  To make an inquiry, contact Karen Nemeth at karen.nemeth@verizon.net.
